The Nate

A low trail, all-road bike to be used for all the things it’s good for:  road rides, gravel rides, commuting, touring, and the occasional northern Wisconsin off road adventure.

Thin wall, small diameter tubing so it planes, and light fork blades with narrow tips so it floats over the rough stuff.  Nate’s fit dimensions are pretty close to mine so I was able to do a good test ride:  This one really sings (no, I’m not talking about the brakes; they are actually quiet)!

650b x 42mm wide Compass Babyshoe Pass tires on my new favorite 650b Velocity Quill rims to suit all types of riding.

Spacious Swift Cascade Ozette Rando Bag with support rack and modified Compass Decaleur for daily use, custom removable one piece low-rider front rack for touring.

Fully integrated lighting, charging, and navigation system complete with a custom streamliner-esque tail light housing.

Wide range 2 x 10 drivetrain with the new Rene Herse ramped and pinned chainrings.  I’ve used these rings on both SRAM and Campagnolo drivetrains with great results, but with these 10 speed Shimano Ultegra shifters and a CX-70 front derailleur this is the best shifting setup I’ve ever used.

Wonderfully thin paint, crisp graphics, and some really nice masking details from Black Magic Paint.  Colors by Curtis Ingles of Retrotec bikes:  I saw this cute little Wolseley on his Instagram feed and he was nice enough to give me the color codes.  Thanks Curtis!

I’m bringing this to Nate in Madison on Thursday and then we are immediately heading off with friends on a multi-day tour to Dairy Roubaix and back, should be a fun adventure!
